Frequently Asked Questions
|
1. Are LubeRite® containers OSHA approved?
- There are no OSHA regulations that specifically address intermediary containers such as LubeRite®. If there were, best and safe practices would likely prohibit use of coffee cans, detergent bottles, soda bottles and other makeshift containers, and require durable (to prevent damage or breakage), well sealed (to prevent spills and lubricant contamination), and clearly marked (for proper fluid identification) lubricant containers.
2. Why do I need a LubeRite® container when the “makeshift” plastic jugs I’m currently using seem to do the job?
- Standard jugs don’t provide anything close to the level of durability, safety, chemical compatibility, ease-of-use, organization and cleanliness that LubeRite® was designed and engineered to provide specifically for equipment lubrication and maintenance professionals.
- If you have experienced machine downtime, the culprit may have been contaminated lubricating oil. For example, an open coffee can easily collect dirt, moisture, and dust particles which could cause havoc on your equipment. Another example is a closed detergent bottle, although capped, may still have residual detergent which mixes with your good lubricant again spelling disaster in your process.
- If you haven’t had a recent equipment breakdown, it might only be a matter of time before the inevitable can happen to you. LubeRite® containers are designed to prevent fluid contamination - which is increasingly important because the tolerances of modern-day equipment are tighter and more precise than ever before, and thus require fluids that are free of contaminants.
3. Aside from preventing oil contamination, do LubeRite® containers help me in other ways?
- LubeRite® containers allow you to clearly identify the fluids that are inside the container. This minimizes the risk of cross contamination (topping off your equipment with the wrong fluid). It will also prevent you from being penalized by OSHA for not meeting Hazardous Communication regulations, which is the second-most cited OSHA offense.
- LubeRite® containers minimize dangerous and costly spills.
- LubeRite® containers are easy-to-use and makes it possible to dispense to awkward points
- LubeRite® containers speed up lube jobs and they expedite filling and refilling
- LubeRite® containers maximize usable lubricants
- LubeRite® containers promote a “visual” workplace, which leads to fewer mistakes and a leaner, more efficient operation.
- LubeRite® extends the life of the lubricant and the machinery
- LubeRite® containers include adhesive backed pouches which can also hold MSDS sheets, PM records, or operating instructions
4. Are LubeRite® containers U.L. Listed?
- There is currently no category within the Underwriters Laboratories system that addresses intermediary industrial fluid containers of this type.
5. What types of fluids can I use with LubeRite® containers?
- Check with the fluid manufacturer to ensure that the fluids being used are compatible with High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) of the LubeRite containers, and Nitrile (Buna N) o-rings.
- If you intend on using LubeRite® pumps, check to make sure your fluid is compatible with T6 aluminum, as this is the material used for the pump tubes.
6. What is the LubeRite® warranty period?
- One year. See Justrite’s warranty program for details.
